Steps to Apply
Admission Requirements
Students applying to the HIHIM Degree Program should meet the following requirements:
- Be admitted to the UW Day or Evening Degree Program for the Summer Quarter of entry into HIHIM.
- Submit HIHIM application and all required documents to the HIHIM Office by April 15.
- Complete a minimum of 90 transferable credits.
- CUM GPA of 2.5.
- Minimum of 2.0 in each prerequisite course.
- CUM GPA of 2.5 or greater in prerequisite coursework.
- Prerequisite completion is rated at the time of application. Full points are given for courses that have been completed and partial points are assigned for courses that are "in progress." Students admitted to the HIHIM program must have all prerequisites completed by the beginning of Summer Quarter.
Prerequisites (with approved UW courses)
- Statistics (one of the following): STAT 220, STAT 311, QMETH 201, PSYCH 315, EDPSY 490 or equivalent
- Anatomy and physiology with lab: BIOL 118 and BIOL 119 or equivalent
- Introductory management: MGMT 300 or equivalent
- Introduction to computer applications and information technology: CSE 100, INFO 100 or equivalent
- Medical terminology: Not offered at UW
Major Requirements
- 57 credits in 400-level HIHIM courses
- Other electives to bring total credits to at least 180.
